I am Edu Alcaniz, an underwater photographer and CMAS instructor. I combine my passion for diving with photography, exploration and citizen science, with a particular interest in Mediterranean marine life.
My work includes macro and wide-angle photography, as well as photographic documentation of caving and canyoning. Explore my exploration projects and exhibitions, citizen science contributions and photography awards.
Photography, exploration and outreach
Observing marine life is central to my photography. I use macro and wide-angle techniques to document species, behaviour and underwater landscapes. I also contribute to exploration projects where photography helps record the work of teams and the environments they encounter.
In September 2026, I took part in the Escaleta–Toro cave system expedition in Aigualluts (Benasque), alongside SIES and Espeleo Club Sabadell, combining logistical support with photographic documentation. My work has also featured in exhibitions including CIMASUB, Marine Biodiversity of the Fòrum (University of Barcelona) and ExpoNatura. Explore projects and exhibitions.
Competitions and recognition
My recognitions include being selected as a MedFoto 2026 finalist with Entangled, sixth place in ecological awareness photography at CIMASUB 2026, and first prize in the general category of BioMARató 2024 across Catalonia. View awards and results.
